New BYD Seal 06 DM-i Wagon

BYD is pushing forward in the hybrid and electric car market with the addition of the Seal 06 DM-i wagon, revealed at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. Building on the strong sales of the Seal 06 DM-i sedan, which has already passed 220,000 units since its release in May 2024, this new wagon brings more space and practicality to the lineup.

The Seal 06 DM-i wagon keeps the same sleek Ocean Series look but adds a longer rear section to boost cargo capacity. It is 4,850 millimeters long, 1,890 millimeters wide, and 1,505 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase of 2,790 millimeters. Under the hood, there is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that delivers 74 kilowatts, paired with either a 120 kilowatt or 160 kilowatt electric motor. A lithium-iron-phosphate battery provides energy and supports external charging.

Buyers will have two hybrid configurations to choose from. The base version offers an electric-only range of 53 kilometers, while the upgraded version can go up to 83 kilometers without using fuel. Both versions use BYD’s latest fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system. The new wagon is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2025 with a price between 120,000 and 150,000 Chinese yuan, roughly 16,400 to 20,500 United States dollars.

Also launching in the second quarter is the fully electric Seal 06 EV sedan, with single-motor options producing either 110 kilowatts or 160 kilowatts. This variant measures 4,720 millimeters in length and shares a wheelbase of 2,820 millimeters with the hybrid.

Looking ahead, the third quarter will bring the Sealion 06 DM-i and EV versions. The hybrid model includes the same 1.5-liter engine and a 160 kilowatt motor, while the electric model offers up to 180 kilowatts or a dual-motor all-wheel drive option with 110 and 180 kilowatts. Pricing will range between 160,000 and 200,000 Chinese yuan, or about 21,900 to 27,350 United States dollars.
