Lamborghini Urus Plug In Hybrid Revealed With 790 Horsepower

Lamborghini has unveiled its latest marvel, the Urus SE, which promises to redefine high-performance luxury SUVs by integrating electrified power without sacrificing the iconic V-8 growl. This plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of Lamborghini’s best-selling model combines traditional combustion with electric innovation, delivering an unparalleled driving experience.

At the heart of the Urus SE lies the familiar twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine, which, instead of being downsized as is typical with hybrids, remains robust with a 612 horsepower rating and 590 pound-feet of torque. Complementing this powerhouse is an electric motor integrated within the eight-speed automatic transmission, adding 189 horsepower and 356 pound-feet of torque. Together, they produce a staggering total output of 789 horsepower and 701 pound-feet of torque. This allows the Urus SE to achieve a 0-62 mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds, marginally quicker than its predecessor, the Urus S, and barely a hair slower than the top-tier Urus Performante.

Performance aside, the Urus SE showcases a commitment to sustainability, marked by an 80 percent reduction in emissions compared to its all-gasoline counterpart. It houses a 25.7-kWh lithium-ion battery neatly tucked beneath the cargo floor, providing over 37 miles of electric range. In EV mode, it can cruise up to 81 mph before the gasoline engine smoothly takes over.

Design-wise, the Urus SE borrows elements from Lamborghini’s rich heritage and recent innovations. It features matrix LED headlights with a distinctive daytime running light signature reminiscent of a bull’s tail, subtle front tweaks inspired by the Revuelto supercar, and a rear design influenced by the Gallardo, which increases downforce by 35 percent.

With customizable options galore, including over 100 body colors and 47 interior themes, Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program ensures that each Urus SE can be as unique as its owner. The model also introduces new driving modes specifically tailored for its hybrid nature, including EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge, alongside the standard Lamborghini driving modes.

This blend of traditional Lamborghini power with modern, eco-friendly technology sets a new standard for luxury SUVs and prepares the brand for its future in electrification.
