PRESS RELEASE

A special Fourth of July for Jeep at the ‘Montreux Jazz Festival 2015’

For the most American holiday of all, the US brand celebrates the famous music event, of which it is Global Partner, presenting the exclusive Jeep Grand Cherokee ‘Montreux Jazz Festival Limited Edition’, a special series of which only 49 will be made, one for each year of the Festival, and available from Jeep showroom in Switzerland only. One of the two Renegade showcars customised by Garage Italia Customs with electro-acoustic guitar inspired graphics and chrome-plated details was revealed in Geneva on the same day.

On Saturday July 4, Jeep has chosen to celebrate the Swiss music festival and American Independence Day by presenting a Grand Cherokee special series and two Renegade showcars inspired by the world of music and specifically by the famous event which every year attracts thousands of music lovers worldwide to the Lake Geneva shore.

Spotlights will be trained on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Montreux Jazz Festival Limited Edition, of which 49 will be made, one for each year of the Festival. The car will be marketed only in Switzerland for CHF 88.300. Sporting the logo of the event, designed specifically by Centro Stile FCA, on the pillar, the special series features an elegant Granite Crystal livery and Dark Brown natural leather interiors. The stunning look is embellished by satin-finish accents, 20″ alloy rims and double glass panoramic roof.

Equipped with a 3.0 Multijet II 250 HP engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox, the Grand Cherokee ‘Montreux Edition’ fits as standard equipment an innovative ‘Blue Ray DVD’ multimedia system – which consists of two screens for the rear passengers, each of which with HDMI and AUX port and wireless headphones – and a sophisticated Harman Kardon sound system with 825 watt amplifier, multichannel audio surround, 19 speakers and Active Noise Cancellation technology for optimising acoustic comfort on-board.

The vehicle’s extraordinary performance is secured by Quadra-Drive II, the top-end all-wheel drive system with rear electronic differential, Jeep Quadra-Lift suspensions and Selec-Terrain traction control system. Safety equipment includes Adaptive Cruise Control with stop function, the new Selec-Speed Control and the Forward Collision Warning with ‘Crash Mitigation’.

The lucky few buyers of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Montreux Jazz Festival Limited Edition will also receive a Limited Edition Box MJF containing an ‘MJF Black Card’ allowing access to the famous ‘Le Picotin’ chalet of Festival founder Claude Nobs to be submerged in the unique atmosphere and create a customised CD picking songs by their favourite artists picked directly from the Festival from the extensive music library listed in the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme. The MJF Limited Edition Box also contains a DVD containing 10 new tracks and a pair of Soho Wireless Harman Kardon headphones with touch controls and Bluetooth connectivity.

Again on the Forth of July, Jeep unveiled one of the two Renegade showcars customised by Garage Italia Customs and also dedicated to the music festival. Representatives of Jeep and Garage Italia Customs revealed a car with a distinct personality which is the perfect blend of excellence and style and which perfectly expresses the music-loving spirit of the Montreux Jazz Festival.

Jeep and Garage Italia Customs are showing the results of the joint project on which they have been working for some time to provide further demonstration of just how versatile a Jeep is and to express the car’s flair for customisation to provide answers to the needs of the most demanding and enthusiastic consumers. The first Italian Jeep was handed over to a team of experts specialising in various creative areas to create a tribute to one of the world’s most prestigious international music festivals of which Jeep is Global Partner. Moreover, for the first time in 25 years, a car will be showcased at Geneva Airport. The result is a very high quality product in which Garage Italia Customs’ typical Italian craftsmanship blends with the outstanding personality of the first Jeep to be made in Italy and sold in over 100 countries worldwide.

It is one of the two Renegade showcars that Jeep and Garage Italia Customs built for the Festival: the other one will be on display in front of the prestigious ‘Fairmont Le Montreux Palace’ for the entire event, before being transferred to Zurich Airport. A characteristic of both cars is the Cherry Black Burst and Classic Black Burst paintwork inspired by the most famous colours of guitar bodies. The look is made even more realistic by a special wood effect airbrushed by hand. The electric guitar strings are depicted across the bonnet and the boot. The hand-crafted element of the two Renegade showcars – which will remain on show until the end of 2015 – make direct reference to the world of luthiers who build and expertly customise all details of their musical instruments.

The exclusive treatment continues inside with one-of-a-kind details. Features include black denim roof lining, seat sides and door panels, while the seat inserts, the central tunnel, the gear boot and the armrest are upholstered with ‘Foglizzo’ coloured leather. Finally, all inserts are painted white, the same colour as the details which embellish the seats. The seat cushion picks up the exterior graphics.

It is not the first time that Renegade has been turned into a showcar: other noteworthy examples are the Renegade Hard Steel customisation which was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show and the Renegade Desert Hawk which was showcased at the Moab Easter Jeep Safari. What’s more, in addition to being unique, exclusive and nothing short of real works of art, the two showcars made specifically for the Montreux Jazz Festival are made using automotive standard compliant materials.

These special cars demonstrate the natural flair of Jeep to be customised, with bold, distinctive interpretations which commend a partnership between two icons: the automotive legend Jeep and the famous Montreux Jazz Festival. Both share a history of innovation, evolution readiness and aptitude to anticipate trends while remaining true to themselves and always earning the appreciation of the public.
