290bhp Supercharges Ariel Nomad

290bhp Supercharges Ariel Nomad

Ariel Motor has announced plans to offer a supercharged version of the Nomad.

The “Atom’s mucky brother” just got a lot more powerful as the naturally aspirated 4-cylinder, 2.4-liter Honda engine has received a supercharger that bumps output from the standard 235 bhp (175 kW) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) to 290 bhp (216 kW) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque. The output hike should make it substantially quicker than the regular Nomad which covers the 0-60 mph (96 km/h) run in 3.4 seconds and tops out at 125 mph (201 km/h).

While a regular Nomad kicks off at £30,000, the supercharged version will cost an additional £6,000 and those who have already placed an order for the naturally aspirated model will be given the possibility to make the upgrade. However, it takes a while from the moment a customer places an order until delivery as Ariel Motor mentions there’s a 9 to 12 months waiting time.

The Nomad went on sale a few months ago and Ariel has delivered so far two units while another two will soon be handed over to their rightful owners. If there’s enough demand, Ariel can make up to 60 units of the Nomad annually.
