This available advanced safety feature uses a camera and radar sensor to scan for vehicles and pedestrians in the path of your Elantra. If a collision is imminent and the driver does not react, the system deploys Automatic Emergency Braking. The system can even apply full brake-force stopping power from 5 to 50 mph, giving you an added element of safety. When a pedestrian is detected, full stopping power is automatically applied from 5 to 43 mph. The Pedestrian Detection feature offers an added element of safety not found in cars in Elantra’s class.

This available radar-based system helps detect when a vehicle is in the driver’s blind spot and provides both an audible and a visual alert to help keep you aware as you move down the road. When reverse gear is selected, Rear Cross-traffic Alert helps identify and warn the driver of vehicles approaching from the side.

The available Lane Departure Warning may inform you when you begin to drift outside your lane without signaling and help inform you with an audible and visual cue. Additionally, Lane Keep Assist may even apply corrective steering assistance, providing you with yet another feature designed to help you arrive safely.

Here’s a pair of brilliant ideas. First, a lighting system that turns when you do. That’s the thinking behind Elantra’s available Dynamic Bending Light. It’s designed to turn the headlights with the direction of the curve as you turn the steering wheel. Next up, High Beam Assist. It automatically dims your high-beams when it senses the headlights of oncoming traffic.

Despite all of the Elantra sedan’s advanced preventative safety features, sometimes accidents are just unavoidable. That’s why we’ve loaded the sedan’s interior with a driver’s knee airbag, plus six front, side-impact and side-curtain airbags to help keep you and your passengers safe.
