2017 BMW M5 Spied Again

2017 BMW M5 Spied Again (8)

Powertrain: All-wheel drive is the big news for the 2017 BMW M5, but will it be standard? Audi’s S6 and its more M-comparable Audi RS7 come exclusively with Quattro all-wheel drive, and Mercedes recently added 4MATIC all-wheel drive on all U.S.-bound Mercedes E63 AMG models even though it does continue to offer the sedan and wagon in Europe without it. Our bet is that BMW will offer BMW xDrive as an option, both in the U.S. and abroad. American BMW M5 customers are a vocal bunch and were able to sway BMW to offer a manual transmission on the current BMW M5 when the company was threatening to nix it; if those same folks dislike AWD system, BMW will know. Regardless of the AWD, look for BMW’s monster twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 to reappear with at least 600HP.
