Xpeng P7 Coupe Teased: The Electric Sports Sedan of 2025?

Xpeng Motors is turning heads once again, and this time, it is not just a facelift—it is a bold leap into the future. Company Chairman He Xiaopeng recently introduced a brand-new model set to succeed the popular P7, hinting that it is much more than an upgrade. Codenamed E29, this sleek four-door electric coupe is scheduled to make its full debut in the second half of 2025, and judging by what we know so far, it is aiming to reset expectations.

Rafik Ferrag, the designer behind the original P7, is once again at the helm. The E29’s shape teases a sporty fastback silhouette, a full-width taillight with an all-new lighting signature, and clean, aerodynamic lines thanks to flush-mounted door handles and a retractable rear spoiler. Even though the design carries forward some inspiration from the recently launched P7 Plus, it clearly raises the bar in terms of performance styling.

Although the interior has not been officially revealed, spy photos suggest it is just as forward-thinking. A large central touchscreen and a compact three-spoke steering wheel featuring circular control pods are standout features. There are hints of premium purple leather, and Xpeng’s upgraded Xmart OS 2.0 will likely take center stage, potentially integrating an augmented reality head-up display and more advanced voice controls.

What sets the E29 apart technically could be its driver assistance system. While current Xpeng models often rely on lidar, the E29 may switch to a camera-only setup powered by the brand’s next-generation Turing artificial intelligence chip. If true, that would make this one of the most advanced camera-based systems in its class.

It is also expected to run on the company’s new Kunpeng electric vehicle platform. While there is speculation that the architecture could eventually support range-extending variants, the E29 is expected to launch as a fully electric model. For comparison, the current dual-motor P7i delivers up to 348 kilowatts and has a CLTC range of 702 kilometers. The E29 could match or even surpass those numbers.

The vehicle is expected to premiere in the third quarter of 2025, possibly at the Guangzhou Auto Show. With CEO He Xiaopeng already seen behind the wheel of a prototype, it is clear Xpeng is committed to making this one of its most important vehicles yet.
