Why the 2025 DBX S May Be the Most Exclusive Performance SUV Yet

Why the 2025 DBX S May Be the Most Exclusive Performance SUV Yet

Aston Martin is turning up the heat for twenty twenty-five with the new DBX S, a refined evolution of its high performance luxury sport utility vehicle. While the base remains the ferocious DBX seven hundred seven, this updated version gets a few strategic upgrades, especially under the hood. Engineers boosted the twin turbocharged four liter V eight engine to seven hundred seventeen horsepower, thanks to turbo enhancements borrowed from the Valhalla supercar. It is a subtle change, but it shaves a few tenths of a second off its acceleration to one hundred twenty four miles per hour. Zero to sixty miles per hour remains at three point one seconds, while top speed holds steady at one hundred ninety three miles per hour.

To help drivers make the most of the power, the nine speed automatic transmission has been retuned. Shift points are sharper in Sport and Sport Plus modes, and the steering feels quicker and more precise. The all wheel drive system, unchanged from the DBX seven hundred seven, still allows up to fifty percent of torque to be directed to the front wheels or one hundred percent to the rear as needed. The suspension setup carries over as well, retaining the recalibrations introduced last year. It includes sixteen point five inch carbon ceramic front brakes and fifteen point three inch rear discs, providing serious stopping power.

Visually, the changes are subtle yet effective. The front fascia now includes a more aggressive splitter, and the rear features a revised bumper and a larger diffuser. But the standout feature is the stacked exhaust design. Twin vertical exhaust tips on each side give the rear end a bold new look, reminiscent of performance sedans like the Lexus IS F.

Inside, the updates are minimal, limited to unique trim options and S specific branding. The real transformation is in weight savings if you are willing to pay for it. Aston Martin is offering twenty three inch magnesium wheels that cut forty one pounds compared to the standard aluminum wheels. Add a carbon fiber roof the largest single carbon piece the company has ever installed and you shave even more weight. A new lightweight grille, inspired by the DBS seven hundred seventy Ultimate, further improves weight distribution. Optional carbon fiber accessories like mirrors and door sills help bring the total weight reduction to just over one hundred pounds, resulting in a curb weight of four thousand eight hundred forty six pounds.

However, here is the catch. None of these weight saving features are standard. Every single one of them is an optional add on. So if you want the leanest version of the DBX S, be ready to open your wallet. Aston Martin has not released final pricing, but with the current DBX seven hundred seven already starting around two hundred sixty thousand dollars, a fully equipped DBX S could easily cross the three hundred thousand dollar mark.

Deliveries for the twenty twenty six DBX S are expected to begin in the fall of twenty twenty five. Until then, performance sport utility vehicle fans can start dreaming and budgeting.
