This Porsche Just Crushed a Lap Record by Over 6 Seconds!
Porsche is once again making headlines with its all-electric powerhouse, the Taycan Turbo GT. In its latest display of performance, the 2025 Taycan Turbo GT just shattered the production electric vehicle lap record at Road Atlanta. With a time of 1:27.15 around the 2.54-mile track, it beat the previous best by 6.73 seconds—an earlier benchmark also set by a Taycan Turbo S back in 2020.
The record-setting car was not just any Taycan Turbo GT. It came in Purple Sky paint and was equipped with the Weissach Package. This performance-focused option deletes the rear seats in favor of a carbon fiber shelf and adds a fixed rear wing. With up to 485 pounds of downforce, it sticks to the tarmac like glue.
This version of the Taycan Turbo GT delivers a staggering 1,092 horsepower, enabling it to accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in just 2.1 seconds. Even in its standard form, the car produces 777 horsepower and 998 pound-feet of torque—figures that easily outgun many traditional supercars.
For the record attempt, Porsche ran the car on Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS NF0 tires inflated to 37 psi. The team also used Track Endurance Mode to lower the battery’s starting temperature for optimum performance.
This new lap time adds to the Taycan Turbo GT’s growing list of accomplishments. Earlier this year, it ran a 1:42.1 at Interlagos in Brazil and also set a record at the Nürburgring.
Porsche is clearly pushing the limits of electric vehicle performance—and they are not slowing down.
