These Xiaomi Smart Glasses Just Changed the Game
Xiaomi is stepping into the world of wearable artificial intelligence, and it is doing it with style. Just days ago, the company unveiled its first pair of artificial intelligence glasses at a major event in Beijing. These smart glasses are not just a gimmick—they are packed with real features that users can take advantage of every day. From smart camera tools to voice-assisted translation and payments, Xiaomi is clearly aiming to make these glasses more than just an accessory.
Weighing just 40 grams, the glasses come in three finishes: black, tortoiseshell brown, and a bold parrot green. The frame uses TR90 nylon and titanium hinges that can endure up to 18,000 open-and-close cycles. They are sleek, light, and surprisingly strong. What really makes them stand out, though, is the electrochromic lens tech. With a quick touch or voice command, you can tint the lenses in just 0.2 seconds. They adapt to your lighting conditions and can even shift between colors like blue, purple, pink, and gray.
Xiaomi did not include a digital display on purpose. Instead, all interaction happens via voice and touch. Powered by a Snapdragon AR1 chip, these glasses also include a co-processor to manage low-power tasks, helping battery life last up to 8.6 hours of use. They charge using USB Type-C and are fully recharged in around 45 minutes.
The onboard 12 megapixel Sony ultra-wide camera captures 2K video at 30 frames per second and allows for continuous recording of up to 45 minutes. Whether you are filming your travel adventures or taking spontaneous photos, this camera is more than just functional—it is practical. There are five microphones and two open-ear speakers built in, making calls even in windy environments crystal clear.
Artificial intelligence powers many of the cool features here. The voice assistant can recognize objects, translate languages, provide scene summaries, and even estimate calories in food. It can transcribe meetings, summarize conversation points, and allow hands-free payments using visual QR code scanning. Most of these features are ready now, and even more are expected with an upcoming over-the-air update in September.
In terms of pricing, the glasses are currently only available in China. The standard clear-lens model starts at 1,999 yuan, while versions with electrochromic lenses go for up to 2,999 yuan depending on color and functionality. That is roughly 280 to 418 U.S. dollars.
Compared to the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses, Xiaomi offers significantly better battery life, longer video capture time, and a broader set of practical artificial intelligence tools. These glasses are not trying to be a toy. They are aiming to become a new category of assistant—always on, always helpful, and always wearable.
