Retro Power: Porsche 911 Spirit 70 Brings Back the Seventies

Retro Power: Porsche 911 Spirit 70 Brings Back the Seventies

Porsche is back with another collector’s dream, this time diving into the nostalgia of the Seventies. Meet the new Porsche 911 Spirit 70, a limited-run edition that blends retro charm with cutting-edge performance. Built on the Carrera GTS Cabriolet platform, this model is not just about going fast—it is about going back in time with style.

The Olive Neo paint color is exclusive to this edition and it brings a vintage flavor straight from the past. Complementing the paint are unique center-locking wheels in a subtle gold-grey tone—20 inches up front and 21 inches at the rear. Racing stripes stretch across the hood and stop at the bumper with a bold “911” decal, a direct nod to Porsche’s design cues from the 1970s. Adding to the heritage feel is a throwback Porsche crest on the hood and optional numbered decals on the doors.

Step inside, and it gets even more nostalgic. The Spirit 70 revives the iconic Pasha pattern, originally introduced in the Seventies to mimic the blur of a checkered flag in motion. This time, it is done in black and Olive Neo, spread across seat centers and other surfaces. Porsche even lets you cover the dashboard and seat backs in this eye-catching textile and flock yarn combo.

Underneath the retro look is some serious modern performance. The Spirit 70 uses the new T-Hybrid system from the Carrera GTS, combining a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine with an electric motor. Together, they produce 532 horsepower and 449 pound-feet of torque, sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It is a hybrid, but not one that compromises on excitement.

Porsche is only building 1,500 examples of the Spirit 70 worldwide, and pricing starts at a hefty $242,250 including destination fees. That is a full $17,000 more than a GT3, but let’s be real—this car is about far more than numbers. Collectors will not hesitate to snatch it up.
