Nissan Just Revealed the 2026 Leaf and It Looks Nothing Like Before

The Nissan Leaf is stepping into a new chapter for the twenty twenty-six model year. What was once a compact, hatchback electric vehicle has now evolved into a sleek crossover that blends aerodynamic design with much-needed performance and tech upgrades. The design alone marks a bold shift for Nissan—smooth body lines, a fastback-style rear roofline, and flush door handles signal the Leaf is no longer just about practicality but about style too.

Nissan is offering this next-generation Leaf on its CMF-EV platform, the same modular architecture used by the Ariya. Thanks to this setup, the new Leaf benefits from a more spacious cabin, a stiffer chassis, and improved ride quality. At the core of its performance lies a single front-mounted electric motor. Depending on the trim level, the Leaf makes either one hundred seventy-four or two hundred fourteen horsepower. Pair that with a fifty-three kilowatt-hour or seventy-five kilowatt-hour liquid-cooled battery, and you are looking at a very competitive electric vehicle range—ranging from two hundred fifty-nine miles to three hundred three miles depending on which model you choose.

Charging is easier than ever. The Leaf now supports one hundred fifty kilowatt fast charging and also includes the North American Charging Standard port, which means it will be compatible with Tesla Superchargers across the country. Nissan has even included Plug and Charge technology, so you can skip the app-hopping and just plug in to juice up.

Inside, the cabin has undergone a complete digital transformation. The base model includes two twelve point three-inch displays with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Move up to the SV Plus or Platinum Plus trims, and you get larger fourteen point three-inch screens and Google built-in. Cabin lighting is customizable, there is a panoramic electrochromic roof, and audiophiles will love the available Bose Personal Plus sound system. It is a massive step up from the old model, and the attention to detail is clear in every corner of the cabin.

Buyers will be able to choose from four trims—S, S Plus, SV Plus, and Platinum Plus. The S trim gets the smaller battery and a one hundred seventy-four horsepower output. All other trims come standard with the larger battery and two hundred fourteen horsepower. Nissan is targeting a starting price in the mid thirty thousand dollar range and plans to begin deliveries in fall twenty twenty-five.

This is not just a redesign. The twenty twenty-six Nissan Leaf is a full rethinking of what a mainstream electric vehicle should be. It is stylish, practical, tech-forward, and ready to take on the growing competition.
