Nio’s Onvo L90 Revealed – Big Power, Big Space, Small Price

Nio’s Onvo L90 Revealed – Big Power, Big Space, Small Price

Nio is making a serious move into the mainstream market with the launch of its all-new Onvo L90 electric sport utility vehicle. Designed to be family-friendly and packed with tech, the L90 is more than just another electric vehicle. It is Nio’s first vehicle under its Onvo sub-brand, and it is going head-to-head with rivals like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Measuring 5,145 millimeters in length with a wheelbase of 3,110 millimeters, the L90 offers a spacious six-seat configuration in a 2+2+2 layout. A more affordable five-seat version called the L80 is expected later. Under the hood, the rear-wheel drive model delivers 340 kilowatts, while the all-wheel drive version pushes out 440 kilowatts, or about 590 horsepower. Performance is paired with a large front trunk and a choice of battery options, including an 85 kilowatt-hour nickel manganese cobalt pack and a lower-cost lithium iron phosphate pack. The maximum range is expected to be around 605 kilometers.

Inside, the L90 continues Nio’s tech-forward reputation, offering an intelligent cockpit, full connectivity, and support for battery swapping. It runs on the NT 3.0 platform, which includes over 1,000 smart inspection checkpoints during production for quality assurance. With its 900-volt electrical system, it also charges quickly and efficiently.

The starting price is just under 300,000 Chinese yuan, which comes out to around 41,800 United States dollars, making it a compelling alternative to more expensive options in the segment. Production is set to begin in September 2025 at Nio’s new Hefei factory.

This vehicle is not just about specs. It is about offering a well-rounded, modern family electric vehicle at a price that makes sense.
