New JMEV 01: Xiaomi’s Secret Electric Roadster Shocks Everyone!

The SC-01 electric sports car has officially entered a new chapter under the JMEV brand, reintroduced as the JMEV 01. Backed by Xiaomi investments, this sleek two-door roadster is now ready for the streets, priced at 300,000 yuan, which is approximately 40,920 United States dollars. Originally developed by Tianjin Gongjianpai Auto Technology, a company founded in 2016 by Feng Xiaotong, this car blends raw passion with serious engineering. Feng Xiaotong, who also runs the YouTube channel China Car Custom, brought years of hands-on experience to this project.

The JMEV 01 maintains the sharp, aggressive styling seen on the SC-01, featuring pointed headlights, circular taillights, and stylishly slanted C-pillars. Despite being an electric car, it remains impressively light, tipping the scales at 1,365 kilograms. That is only 25 kilograms more than a Porsche Cayman 987. Its strong yet lightweight chromium-molybdenum steel tube frame keeps the overall gross weight at 1,615 kilograms while maintaining excellent rigidity.

Underneath the body, two synchronous permanent magnet motors drive both the front and rear axles. Each motor pushes out 160 kilowatts, which translates to around 214 horsepower. Together, they deliver a total of 320 kilowatts, or about 429 horsepower, giving the JMEV 01 some serious performance. Power comes from a ternary NMC battery sourced from CALB, although the exact battery capacity has not yet been revealed. The JMEV 01 can reach a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
