New iCar V23 Electric SUV: Xiaomi’s Quiet Move into Cars Revealed!

New iCar V23 Electric SUV: Xiaomi’s Quiet Move into Cars Revealed!

The iCar V23 is making waves in China, marking a major step forward for Chery’s collaboration with Zhimi Technology. This is the first vehicle co-developed by both companies and the second mass-produced model from the iCar brand. Targeting younger consumers, the V23 is a compact, fully electric SUV with a bold design, off-road potential, and smart tech features.

Zhimi Technology is best known for producing smart appliances like air purifiers, air conditioners, and electric fans. It is part of the Xiaomi ecological chain. While Zhimi was originally formed as a smart hardware company, its quiet pivot into electric vehicles began back in 2021. At the time, a few former General Motors and BAIC engineers joined Zhimi to explore the possibilities of car development. Fast forward to today, that small team is now deeply involved in Chery New Energy, handling the product definition, planning, and engineering, while Chery takes care of production, distribution, and after-sales. Together, they plan to launch between six and eight vehicles over the next three years.

The iCar V23 features both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive layouts. Powered by batteries supplied by CATL, the estimated driving range varies between 400 kilometers and 500 kilometers. While specific powertrain details have not yet been released, the figures point to strong everyday usability and adventure capability. The SUV’s measurements are 4220 millimeters long, 1915 millimeters wide, and 1845 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase of 2730 millimeters. The approach and departure angles are 43 degrees and 41 degrees respectively, with 212 millimeters of ground clearance for the four-wheel drive version.

Its rugged boxy silhouette stands out with circular headlights, a raised front hood, thick bumpers, and oversized fenders. At the rear, there is an external box for additional storage. Other exterior features include light-up hidden door handles, a roof rack, side steps, and wheel options in either 19 inches or 21 inches.

Inside, the cabin leans into modern design with rectangular air vents, rotary knobs, and a contrasting dual-tone color scheme. It will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and a Level 2 Plus advanced driver assistance system, which enhances safety and convenience. Final interior features will be revealed closer to launch.
