New EV King of the Ring? Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Beats Rimac!
The competition between high-performance electric vehicles just got even more intense. On April 1, 2025, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra stunned the world by clocking a blistering Nürburgring lap time of 7:04.957, beating the already impressive Rimac Nevera, which set a time of 7:05.298 back on August 18, 2023. What makes this even more exciting is that both laps were done with production-spec models, not prototypes.
Xiaomi’s record-setting lap was handled by professional driver Vincent Radermecker, and the car was equipped with a Track Package. Under the sleek body, the SU7 Ultra runs a tri-motor setup delivering 1,548 PS or around 1,526 horsepower, pushing it from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 1.98 seconds. It packs a 93.7 kilowatt-hour battery that can discharge at an eye-popping 1,330 kilowatts, making it one of the most powerful electric sedans on the road. Its top speed? Over 350 kilometers per hour.
On the other hand, the Rimac Nevera is no slouch. It comes with a quad-motor configuration and a staggering 1,914 horsepower. Its Nürburgring lap was officially verified by TÜV SÜD, with pro driver Martin Kodrić behind the wheel. The Nevera runs on Michelin Cup 2 R road-legal tires and delivers savage performance, combining speed with remarkable grip and control.
Despite the Nevera’s higher output, Xiaomi’s engineering has found a way to outmaneuver it—at least on the Nordschleife. The difference? Just 0.341 seconds. That gap may be razor-thin, but it is enough to crown a new production EV lap record holder.
