New Citroën C5 Aircross Has the Largest Screen Ever – You Need to See This!
Citroën is making a bold statement with the latest version of its C5 Aircross, and it all starts from the driver’s seat. Front and center sits a massive 13-inch vertical touchscreen, the largest infotainment display ever installed in any production model across all 14 brands under Stellantis. It dominates the dashboard and sets the tone for a more digital yet familiar cockpit experience.
Right next to it, you will find a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, accompanied by an expansive color head-up display that can be adjusted in height to suit your driving position. But Citroën has not gone all-in on touch controls. There is still a strip of physical buttons under the central screen, as well as a compact gear selector and drive mode dial nestled in the center console. So while the tech is impressive, there is still a sense of tactility in the design.
The second-generation C5 Aircross sits on the STLA Medium platform and brings a confident, boxy look with signature Citroën styling cues. For the first time, it comes with 20-inch wheels straight from the factory. Technically, that is a record for the brand, although DS Automobiles, Citroën’s premium sibling, already offers 21-inch wheels.
Positioned as the brand’s flagship, the new C5 Aircross is packed with high-end features like matrix LED headlights and an advanced suspension with progressive hydraulic cushions. This setup includes two shock absorbers at the front – one tuned for compression, the other for rebound – giving it a smooth, almost floating feel even over rough roads. You get that luxury ride quality without the luxury badge.
As for engines, Citroën is leaving diesel behind. The entry-level model runs on a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that produces 136 horsepower, with an added 12 horsepower from a small hybrid motor powered by a 0.9 kilowatt-hour battery beneath the seat. This mild hybrid works with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
If you want more power and electric range, the plug-in hybrid option pairs a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder engine rated at 150 horsepower with a 125-horsepower electric motor. Together, they offer 195 horsepower and run off a 21 kilowatt-hour battery placed beneath the floor. That is enough to travel up to 86 kilometers using electric power alone on the WLTP cycle, and over 100 kilometers in urban driving before the gasoline engine takes over. The hybrid has a 55-liter fuel tank and a claimed maximum range of 404 miles, or 650 kilometers, on the highway.
For full electric driving, there are two choices. One offers 210 horsepower with a 73 kilowatt-hour battery and up to 520 kilometers of range. The second version bumps power to 230 horsepower and uses a 97 kilowatt-hour pack, pushing range to 680 kilometers. Both models support direct current fast charging at up to 160 kilowatts. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid tops out at 7.4 kilowatts for charging.
Although Citroën is not coming to the United States, its French competitor Renault is planning to bring its Alpine performance sub-brand stateside soon. As for this bold and tech-savvy C5 Aircross, it is slated to launch in Europe later this year.
