First Look at the New Electric Isuzu D-Max EV Pickup Truck!
Isuzu is stepping into the electric future with the launch of the D-Max EV, an all-electric version of their popular pickup truck. Built for hard work but with zero emissions, the D-Max EV delivers a combined 140 kilowatts or about 188 horsepower and 325 Newton-meters of torque, roughly 240 pound-feet. Power is split between two electric motors: the rear motor produces 97 kilowatts, while the front motor adds another 43 kilowatts to the mix.
Fueling the action is a 66.9 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, offering a range of up to 263 kilometers on a full charge. While that may not sound earth-shattering, the D-Max EV boasts a towing capacity of 3.5 tons and a payload rating of over 1 ton, keeping it competitive with traditional midsize pickups.
The D-Max EV is no speed demon, reaching 62 miles per hour in 10.1 seconds and topping out at a little over 80 miles per hour. But for a rugged, body-on-frame truck, that is right on the money. Designed to handle tough conditions, it features full-time four-wheel drive, multi-level regenerative braking, and even an Eco driving mode.
At launch, customers will choose between two trims, mirroring the popular DL40 and V-Cross internal combustion models. Standard features include bi-LED headlights, a premium audio system, touchscreen infotainment, and leather seats. Higher trims add an even larger screen, heated front seats, and upgraded sound.
Charging options are flexible, with AC charging at 11 kilowatts and DC fast charging at 50 kilowatts. Expect a full charge overnight or a quick top-up in about an hour. Plus, the battery is backed by an eight-year warranty.
