DS No4 E-Tense 2025 – All-Electric Hatchback with 280 Miles of Range
The DS 4 is entering a bold new chapter. With a major refresh, a new name, and for the first time, an all-electric version, the French brand is aiming to reignite interest in its premium hatchback. Despite only selling 2,300 units in the United Kingdom since its 2021 debut, the DS 4 has been the brand’s best-seller there. In 2024, it performed better in Europe with 10,405 units sold, but DS as a brand is still facing challenges, with a 22.4 percent drop in overall deliveries last year.
Although there were whispers that Stellantis might drop DS entirely, the parent company instead threw its support behind the brand. As part of a revitalization push, DS introduced a new flagship sport utility vehicle called the No8, and now the company has given the DS 4 a comprehensive makeover and a new name — the No4.
The biggest news is the debut of an electric version. The No4 E-Tense uses the same setup as the Peugeot e-408 and Citroën ë-C4. A 58.3 kilowatt-hour battery offers a driving range of up to 280 miles, powering a single motor that delivers 210 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. Although acceleration numbers are not confirmed, the closely related e-408 completes zero to sixty-two miles per hour in 7.6 seconds.
The No4 can fast charge at up to 120 kilowatts, adding 62 miles of range in just 11 minutes. There is also an upgraded plug-in hybrid with a 14.6 kilowatt-hour battery offering 50 miles of electric-only range — that is 30 percent more than before. This powertrain pairs a 178 horsepower turbocharged petrol engine with an integrated motor for a combined output of 222 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. A mild-hybrid 143 horsepower petrol option is also available.
Design-wise, the No4 now resembles the stylish No8 sport utility vehicle. It gets a new wider grille, a V-shaped light signature, and a bonnet stretched by 12 millimeters. The rear gains new LED lighting. As expected from a premium car, 19-inch wheels come standard, with optional 20-inch wheels for those wanting more flair.
The DS No4 will launch later this summer, with pricing expected to rise from its current £33,235 starting point.
