All-New Geely A7 EM-i Plug-In Hybrid – The 2,100 KM Range Game-Changer

All-New Geely A7 EM-i Plug-In Hybrid – The 2,100 KM Range Game-Changer

Geely is stepping into new territory with the reveal of the Galaxy A7 EM-i, a plug-in hybrid sedan that blends sleek design with impressive hybrid technology. Sitting right between the Galaxy L6 and the Starshine 8, this model introduces Geely’s all-new EM AI Super Hybrid 2.0 system, a significant evolution of its previous hybrid platform. Designed to take on models like the BYD Seal 06 DM-i and the BYD Qin L, the Galaxy A7 EM-i brings together performance, efficiency, and a premium driving experience.

At the heart of the A7 EM-i is a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine paired with a P3 electric motor delivering 175 kilowatts. This combination allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 7.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 kilometers per hour. Engine thermal efficiency is rated at 47.26 percent, and even when the battery is depleted, it sips fuel at just 2.67 liters per 100 kilometers under CLTC standards.

Battery options include three different lithium iron phosphate packs—8.5 kilowatt-hours, 18.4 kilowatt-hours, and 18.99 kilowatt-hours. These configurations allow for electric-only driving ranges of either 55 kilometers, 70 kilometers, 120 kilometers, or up to 150 kilometers. With the help of smart energy management software, the A7 EM-i can achieve a total CLTC-rated range of over 2,100 kilometers, making it an ideal option for long-haul drivers looking to save on fuel.

The exterior design embraces Geely’s Galaxy Ripple language with a seamless front grille, a 196-LED light bar across the front, and sharp air intakes highlighted in silver chrome. The body’s aerodynamic curves and clean lines are finished off with a minimal rear light bar and bold Geely lettering. It sits on 19-inch Continental tires and features multiple exterior cameras to support advanced driver-assistance functions.

Inside, the cabin echoes what we have seen in the larger Starshine 8, complete with a 15.4-inch touchscreen running Flyme Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a dual-spoke steering wheel. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay, HiCar, ICCOA, and Flyme Link, while also delivering over-the-air updates and artificial intelligence-driven features like scene recognition and adaptive energy use.

The center console includes a rotary controller, wireless charging pad, column-style shifter, and hidden storage areas. A 16-speaker Flyme Sound system, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting in 256 colors, and a large 16.6-inch head-up display round out the luxurious tech package. The rear seats recline up to 120 degrees and have a 550-millimeter cushion width. The 4/6 split-folding layout allows for expanding the trunk space from 535 liters to 988 liters.

Comfort takes a front seat with heated and ventilated front seats, built-in headrest speakers, and massage modes with eight different settings. While the final pricing has not been confirmed, industry watchers expect the A7 EM-i to start around 100,000 yuan and top out at 130,000 yuan, or approximately 14,000 to 18,200 United States dollars.
