Aito M8 Launch: Huawei’s Family SUV With 1,526 KM Range!

Huawei-backed brand Aito has officially launched its newest family-friendly SUV, the Aito M8, under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance umbrella. The model was introduced in China with a starting price of 359,800 Chinese yuan, which equals approximately 49,250 United States dollars.

This new model is available in six different extended-range electric vehicle configurations. Buyers can choose from three trim levels: Max, Max Plus, and Ultra. Each trim comes with either a five-seat or six-seat setup. Pricing for the five-seat variants starts at 359,800, 379,800, and 429,800 Chinese yuan respectively, while the six-seat versions are slightly higher at 369,800, 399,800, and 449,800 Chinese yuan.

Interestingly, the starting price is 8,200 Chinese yuan lower than what was originally announced during the pre-sale period back on March 6. That price cut may have helped drive immediate interest. Shortly after the official announcement, Aito recorded over 8,000 confirmed orders within eight minutes and more than 20,000 orders in just the first hour.

The Aito M8 is quite a presence on the road. It measures 5,190 millimeters in length, 1,999 millimeters in width, and 1,795 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105 millimeters. Powering the SUV is a 1.5-liter range-extending engine that delivers up to 118 kilowatts of output. On top of that, there is a front electric motor generating 165 kilowatts and a rear motor capable of 227 kilowatts. The vehicle supports a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

Battery options include a 52 kilowatt-hour and 36 kilowatt-hour pack, offering electric-only driving ranges of 235 kilometers, 240 kilometers, and 161 kilometers, depending on the configuration. When fully charged and fueled, the total combined range reaches up to 1,526 kilometers.

The Aito M8 also packs advanced driver assistance technology from Huawei, including a 192-channel roof LiDAR, a solid-state LiDAR sensor, and three 4D millimeter-wave radars.

Deliveries will begin on April 20. With this model, Aito is stepping up to compete directly with the Li Auto L8, which is also an extended-range electric SUV priced in a similar bracket.

If you are into cutting-edge SUVs that blend technology with everyday usability, the Aito M8 is definitely one to keep an eye on.
