Zeekr 9X SUV Reveal: A 68,000 Dollar Electric Beast with Five LiDAR Sensors

Zeekr is stepping into the spotlight with its most luxurious electric vehicle yet – the all-new Zeekr 9X. As the premium brand under Geely Holding Group, Zeekr is preparing to shake up the full-size sport utility vehicle segment with a bold, high-tech flagship that blends elegance with muscle.

Visually, the Zeekr 9X makes an instant impression. The SUV features strong, upright lines and a squared-off silhouette, sending a clear message that this is a vehicle built with confidence. The front grille grabs attention with vertical chrome bars that give a nod to Zeekr’s earlier designs, while still offering something fresh. It looks upscale, but not over-the-top – exactly the kind of quiet luxury many buyers are after.

The design story continues at the rear with an eye-catching light bar Zeekr calls the “Ring Screen Star Diamond.” This taillight setup is made of 43,343 individual diamond-cut facets, crafted to shimmer and dazzle when lit. On the sides, clean and simple body lines emphasize the 9X’s substantial proportions, with tasteful detailing that stays true to its premium focus.

But this vehicle is not just about looks. The 9X debuts Zeekr’s new G-Pilot intelligent driving system, based on Level 3 autonomous driving tech. It runs on the ZEEA 3.0 digital architecture, which improves communication speeds throughout the vehicle by 50 percent. It is equipped with five LiDAR sensors – one for long range and four for close-range coverage – allowing for complete 360-degree situational awareness.

Under the hood, Zeekr introduces its “Super Electric Hybrid” powertrain. This setup combines the best aspects of pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and range extender systems. The result is high performance and long-range flexibility, with the 9X going from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in under four seconds. That is serious speed for a large luxury SUV.

While final pricing will be revealed closer to launch, estimates suggest a starting price of around 500,000 yuan, or approximately 68,000 United States dollars. A more exclusive “Grand Edition” could push that number close to 1,000,000 yuan, or 136,000 United States dollars.

Zeekr will officially unveil the 9X at Auto Shanghai 2025 on April 23. Until then, the images and details hint at a powerful new direction for the brand. This is not just another electric vehicle – it is a statement.
