You Will Not Believe What the New Ford Ranger Stormtrak Can Power
The Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid Stormtrak model is built to combine rugged strength with modern electrified versatility. Positioned as the exclusive launch edition, the Stormtrak brings a bold visual presence and premium features, while delivering the same hardworking toughness Ranger fans have relied on for decades.
At the core of the Stormtrak is a plug-in hybrid powertrain that blends a 2.3 liter EcoBoost petrol engine with a 75 kilowatt electric motor and an 11.8 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. This setup enables up to 43 kilometers of electric-only driving and supports charging through a standard plug or regenerative braking. When fully charged, it can easily handle most daily commutes or on-site jobs without using a single drop of fuel. On longer trips, the petrol engine kicks in smoothly, offering extended range and powerful performance.
This special Stormtrak edition includes Pro Power Onboard, a first for the Ranger lineup. With 2.3 kilowatts available from the onboard system, owners can charge electric bikes or run appliances like a fridge or even tools at a campsite or remote jobsite. For those needing more muscle, the 6.9 kilowatt version features two 15 amp outlets and is capable of powering a cement mixer, floodlights, or an angle grinder simultaneously, all without needing a separate generator.
Inside the cabin, it is all about comfort and connectivity. The Stormtrak comes standard with Ford’s SYNC 4A infotainment system, a 12 inch vertical touchscreen, and an 8 inch digital instrument cluster. Wireless phone charging and connected navigation are included. Safety and convenience features include Pre-Collision Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, and a rear-view camera. It also includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and Matrix LED headlamps for a confident drive in any condition.
The exterior boasts signature Stormtrak styling with unique materials and the Flexible Rack System for added utility. With up to 281 horsepower and 697 Newton-meters of torque, this is the most powerful production Ranger yet, capable of towing up to 3,500 kilograms and carrying a payload of up to 1,000 kilograms.
