Why the 2025 VOYAH Free Is China’s Answer to Tesla and BMW!
The 2025 VOYAH Free SUV is not just another new name in the crowded electric vehicle space—it is a bold, premium contender built by Dongfeng’s luxury sub-brand, aiming straight at the hearts of performance SUV lovers and tech-savvy drivers. Available in both battery electric and extended-range electric vehicle formats, it brings more than just numbers to the table—it delivers personality.
The extended-range version, known as the VOYAH Free 318, pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a 43 kilowatt-hour battery. The rear-mounted electric motor produces 200 kilowatts, which equals 272 horsepower. This version can travel up to 318 kilometers on pure electricity before switching to range-extender mode. When the tank and battery are full, it promises over 1,200 kilometers of total range. Acceleration is no slouch either—it does 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in about 4.5 seconds and hits a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
The full electric version steps things up. Dual motors deliver all-wheel drive and a combined output of 360 kilowatts, or 489 horsepower. Powered by a 106 kilowatt-hour battery (100 kilowatt-hours usable), this model can go up to 480 kilometers on a single charge. It hits 100 kilometers per hour in just about 4.4 seconds.
Design is another standout. Italdesign Giugiaro shaped the SUV’s exterior, giving it smooth proportions, dramatic LED lights, and an aerodynamic profile that balances elegance and presence. Inside, the technology is just as impressive. It comes with a triple-screen dashboard, powered by HarmonyOS Cockpit 5 in the Free Plus variant. Seats offer heating, ventilation, massage, and 12-way adjustability.
The audio system is tuned by Dynaudio, climate control includes PM2.5 filtration, and a panoramic sunroof with adjustable transparency adds luxury vibes. Advanced driver-assistance features like Huawei’s ADS 4 system offer adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and even night vision.
Starting at around $37,782 United States dollars for the extended-range version, the VOYAH Free SUV is currently available in China with rollout plans for Europe and neighboring regions. This model does not just check boxes—it challenges the whole category.
