Trident 800 First Look: Power, Price, And Real-World Upgrades
Triumph has given its friendly roadster some real bite. The 2026 Trident 800 arrives with an all-new 798 cubic centimeter triple-cylinder engine that keeps the playful spirit of the Trident 660 but turns up the urgency. It is the kind of motor that wakes up the moment you roll on the throttle, then smooths out as the revs climb so you can focus on the next corner rather than the next gear.
The new engine is built around a bore and stroke of 78.0 millimeters by 55.7 millimeters with a compression ratio of 13.2 to 1. Triumph claims peak output of 113 horsepower at 10,750 revolutions per minute and 61.9 pound-feet of torque at 8,500 revolutions per minute. Drive goes through a slick 6-speed gearbox with Triumph Shift Assist for clutch-less upshifts and downshifts, which suits the Trident’s easygoing, point-and-shoot character.
Daily usability gets a healthy upgrade, too. You get three ride modes—Road, Sport, and Rain—plus lean-sensitive cornering anti-lock braking system and traction control to keep the fun tidy. A 3.5-inch round thin film transistor display puts the essentials front and center, Bluetooth connectivity brings calls and navigation to your dash, and light-emitting diode lighting all around makes the bike look crisp day and night. Self-canceling turn signals and a neat little belly pan and flyscreen give it that “finished from the factory” look.
The Trident 800 carries 3.7 gallons of fuel in a compact tank, which keeps the bike feeling slim between the knees. Just as noteworthy is the way Triumph has positioned it in the lineup. With the Street Triple 765 R stepping aside for 2026 (the RS continues), the Trident 800 slots in as the new sweet spot for riders who want Street-like punch without Street-level price or intensity.
Speaking of price, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price makes a strong case. In the United States, it is $9,995; in Canada, it is $11,695. Orders are open now at authorized Triumph dealers, with first customer deliveries slated to begin in April 2026. Color choices include Ash Grey with Diablo Red, Carnival Red with Graphite, and Jet Black.
