This Ferrari Daytona SP3 Just Sold for $26 Million at Auction!

At the Monterey Car Week auctions, record-breaking sales are nothing new, but one car stole the spotlight in dramatic fashion. A one-off Ferrari Daytona SP3 sold for an astonishing $26 million at the RM Sotheby’s auction, instantly becoming the most expensive new Ferrari ever sold at auction.

What makes this even more impressive is that the proceeds are going to the Ferrari Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on education. This was not just another collector’s purchase—it was a chance to give back while taking home a piece of Ferrari history.

The Daytona SP3 is already an extremely rare machine. Ferrari unveiled it in 2021 as part of the Icona series, with only 599 examples ever produced, each starting at around $2.25 million. Designed with inspiration from Ferrari’s legendary P3 and P4 prototype race cars of the 1960s, the SP3 combines timeless styling with modern engineering. Essentially, it takes the LaFerrari formula but strips away the hybrid system, giving it a purer V12 experience. Collectors quickly jumped on them, and resale prices soared well above the factory sticker. Still, none had reached anything close to 10 times the original MSRP—until now.

This special car was not a resale. Ferrari built it brand new for this auction, with unique features that set it apart from every other SP3. It comes finished in an exposed carbon fiber body with a striking yellow livery that carries the Ferrari logo across the length of the car. Inside, the cabin was designed exclusively for this build, featuring custom prancing horse motifs and other bespoke details. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone with deep pockets and a love for Ferrari heritage.

The sale also outshined other headline cars from the weekend. An F40 LM crossed the block for just over $11 million, while a 1961 Ferrari 250 California Spyder Competizione sold for more than $25 million at the Gooding Christie’s event. Impressive numbers, but the Daytona SP3’s result still stood at the top of the charts.

Moments like this remind us why Ferrari continues to be such a dominant force in the automotive world—heritage, exclusivity, and passion all wrapped into one.
