The V8 Is Back: Ram TRX Comeback Packs a Punch!
Ram is bringing back the heat much sooner than anyone expected. Just when it seemed like Ford’s F-150 Raptor R had taken the top spot in the high-performance pickup world, Ram is ready to fight back with the return of its powerhouse truck. According to insider sources, production of the next Ram 1500 TRX is set to begin in late 2026. That is about six months earlier than originally expected, and it is big news for fans of serious horsepower and old-school muscle.
The original Ram 1500 TRX made headlines for its outrageous 702-horsepower supercharged V8 engine. It completely changed the game for gas-powered pickups. But when Ford launched the Raptor R with its own V8 beast, it was clear the battle for dominance was not over. Now, Ram is planning to take things up a notch again.
What makes this upcoming TRX even more exciting is that it will be the first vehicle to arrive under the reborn Street and Racing Technology division. This legendary name is coming back to life under Stellantis, with the goal of giving performance-minded drivers something to be excited about once more.
The new TRX will feature many of the upgrades already seen in the Ram 1500 RHO. That truck is no slouch, offering 540 horsepower from a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder Hurricane engine. It also comes with Bilstein performance shocks, an electronic locking differential, and a full-time four-wheel drive system. In many ways, the RHO is a perfect rival to the standard F-150 Raptor, but it lacks the deep growl and brute force of the TRX’s V8.
Ram clearly understands that many truck enthusiasts still love the feeling and sound of a V8 engine. That is why they brought the Hemi V8 back to the regular Ram 1500 lineup. The return of the TRX just builds on that move, signaling Ram’s desire to please drivers who crave performance, sound, and raw power.
While the final specs have not been confirmed, expectations are high. With a supercharger added to the mix, this next-generation TRX is likely to deliver over 700 horsepower once again. That should be more than enough to make Ford nervous and thrill fans who have been waiting for the TRX’s return.
