The BMW Vision CE Just Changed Urban Commuting Forever
BMW is pushing boundaries again—this time, not with a car, but with a reimagined two-wheeled electric commuter. At the IAA Mobility 2025 motorshow, BMW Motorrad introduced the Vision CE, a radical concept that offers a fresh and bold look at urban mobility. But this is not just about electrification. It is about rethinking how we move, what we wear, and how we feel while commuting.
The Vision CE ditches the need for a helmet or traditional motorcycle gear, giving riders the chance to enjoy the city in a more open and relaxed way. It brings back the freedom and simplicity many riders crave, but with the added safety and tech that BMW is known for. The heart of the concept is its innovative safety structure, known as “the cage.” This metal tube frame, paired with a built-in seat belt system, allows riders to be protected without bulky gear.
Visually, the Vision CE is just as striking. Its low-profile, stretched stance gives it a dynamic edge, while the contrast between matte white and deep black, with touches of neon red, makes it feel both futuristic and stylish. The open use of aluminum details creates a clean yet high-tech feel, staying true to BMW’s design roots.
BMW Motorrad has a long history of innovation in this space. Back in 2000, the BMW C1 already offered a scooter that did not require a helmet, thanks to its safety frame. Then came the BMW C Evolution in 2014 and the CE 04 in 2022, both pioneers of electric city commuting. Most recently, the CE 02 joined the lineup in 2024, introducing a laid-back style for the younger crowd. The Vision CE builds on this legacy, blending comfort, tech, and expression into one unique ride.
Another standout feature? Self-balancing. The Vision CE can keep itself upright when stationary, adding convenience for beginners and experienced riders alike. With multiple design variants, it is more than just a concept—it is a bold statement about the future of city commuting.
BMW is not just talking about sustainability and style. They are putting it into action. The Vision CE shows what is possible when design, innovation, and eco-conscious thinking come together in the world of two-wheel mobility.
