The 2025 BYD U9 Supercar is Not What You Think – Full Breakdown
The 2025 BYD Yangwang U9 is not just another electric supercar. It is a bold statement from China’s top EV maker, BYD, showcasing what is possible when cutting-edge engineering meets artistic design. This high-performance vehicle is part of the Yangwang luxury sub-brand and it is rewriting what we can expect from electric cars on the road—and even off of it.
At the heart of the U9 is a quad-motor setup that delivers a staggering 1,287 horsepower and 1,680 newton-meters of torque. This powertrain enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.36 seconds, pushing into the territory of the fastest hypercars in the world. Its top speed hits 309 kilometers per hour, which is more than enough to get your heart racing.
The battery powering all this performance is an 80 kilowatt-hour BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate unit. It is part of the brand’s 800-volt electrical system, which supports incredibly fast charging. You can go from 30 percent to 80 percent in about 10 minutes. If that is not impressive enough, BYD allows you to plug in two chargers at once to cut that time down even more. On a full charge, the U9 offers a driving range of around 450 kilometers using China’s CLTC cycle.
What really sets the Yangwang U9 apart from other supercars is its wild suspension system. The DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System gives the car the ability to do things that sound like science fiction. It can literally jump. It can dance to music. It can raise each wheel independently at high speeds. The total suspension travel is 75 millimeters, and each corner can be lifted at a speed of 500 millimeters per second. That is not just cool—it is game-changing when it comes to control, stability, and comfort.
The design is just as dramatic as the specs. Butterfly doors, aggressive angles, and active aerodynamic elements scream supercar while also serving real aerodynamic purposes. The car’s dimensions reflect its road presence—4,966 millimeters long, 2,029 millimeters wide, and just 1,295 millimeters tall. The wheelbase stretches 2,900 millimeters, giving it a low, planted stance.
Step inside and you are greeted by an interior that blends high-end tech with luxury. Two 14-way adjustable seats provide customized comfort. You will also find a Dynaudio Evidence Series audio system that is built to satisfy the pickiest audiophiles. The in-car tech is powered by the DiLink150 intelligent platform, which is backed by custom 4-nanometer 5G chips. It includes a built-in racing assistant that gives you real-time data from several world-famous tracks.
The Yangwang U9 made its debut in February 2024 with a price tag of 1.68 million Chinese Yuan, or around 236,000 U.S. Dollars. Deliveries began during the summer of 2024 and while it is mainly aimed at the Chinese market, it is generating buzz around the globe.
