Tesla Model S Plaid Just Got Slower: Everything You Need To Know”

Tesla has given the Model S Plaid a quiet but meaningful refresh, and while it may not be the complete overhaul fans were hoping for, it refines this already ferocious electric sedan in smart ways. The most eye-catching update? A $5,000 increase in price, bringing the new starting cost to $101,630. But that is not the only thing that has changed.

Under the skin, the Model S Plaid keeps its monster of a powertrain: a triple-motor setup with all-wheel drive that produces about 1,020 horsepower. This power comes from a 95 kilowatt-hour battery pack, and Tesla claims it can still go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 1.99 seconds. However, top speed has now been capped at 149 miles per hour—down from the previous 200 miles per hour.

Tesla has not altered the core hardware. The motors and battery are the same as before, but the facelift focuses on optimizing the experience through software tweaks, better noise isolation, and improved suspension components. The result is a car that remains wildly fast but more livable for daily use.

Visually, the update includes subtle aerodynamic changes. A reshaped front bumper and rear diffuser help stabilize the car at speed, while a new Frost Blue paint option gives the exterior a more modern flair. Tesla has also introduced a new wheel design that complements the fresh look.

Inside, ambient LED lighting now comes with motion effects, creating a more dynamic environment during night drives. Tesla also added a front bumper camera with a washer to enhance Autopilot’s visual awareness.

Comfort takes a front seat as well. Engineers reworked the suspension bushings and added insulation throughout the cabin. Tesla has also enhanced its active noise cancellation system, aiming to make the interior quieter and more refined.

Overall, the facelifted Model S Plaid does not reinvent the wheel, but it does polish it. Tesla doubled down on performance but made key tweaks that improve everyday comfort, stability, and style. It still delivers face-melting speed, now paired with a more mature personality.
