Supercars On Duty: Carabinieri Deploy Maserati MCPURA and Alfa Giulia for Lifesaving Runs
Italy just paired national duty with serious performance. The Carabinieri have received two very special machines for urgent medical missions: a Maserati MCPURA and an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. Both wear official livery and are equipped for rapid transport of organs and blood between hospitals and transplant centers, where every second truly matters.
The Maserati MCPURA is hand built in Modena and rooted in the brand’s flagship supercar program. Under its sculpted body sits a twin turbocharged six cylinder engine that produces more than 620 horsepower. The structure uses carbon fiber to keep weight low and handling precise, so the car feels alert and planted even when driven for long distances. That race bred focus has been adapted for real service. The cabin now carries secure, temperature controlled storage for medical payloads, integrated police communications, and blue warning lights that blend cleanly with the bodywork. Seeing an exotic supercar used to save lives is unusual, but it makes perfect sense when time is the enemy.
Alongside it is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, a sports sedan with deep roots in the Carabinieri fleet. Its twin turbo six cylinder engine delivers the kind of punch and flexibility a high speed escort needs, while the chassis is balanced and predictable on poor surfaces and in quick direction changes. The Giulia’s presence in this new medical logistics unit shows how well the car’s performance translates to public service, not just thrill rides.
There is also good news for fans of Italian performance sedans. Recent reports point to Alfa Romeo continuing the Ferrari derived six cylinder engine for the next few years, keeping the Quadrifoglio’s spirit alive. That continuity matters when the job is not about lap times, but about moving life saving cargo across regions as quickly and safely as possible.
