Subaru Solterra 2026: XT Trim Unleashed with 338 HP and Tesla Charging!

Subaru Solterra 2026: XT Trim Unleashed with 338 HP and Tesla Charging!

Subaru is giving its first fully electric vehicle a serious upgrade for the 2026 model year. The new Solterra is not just a refresh—it brings more power, more range, better charging, and a look that feels more refined than rugged. And yes, there is a new trim in town: the XT.

At the core of the improvements is performance. The standard 2026 Solterra now pushes 233 horsepower from its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, which is 18 horsepower more than the previous year. Ground clearance remains solid at 8.3 inches, so it can still handle mild off-road use. If you want something quicker, the new XT trim delivers a massive 338 horsepower. Subaru says it can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in under five seconds. That is a big leap for this segment.

The battery also sees a boost, now rated at 74.7 kilowatt-hours, compared to 72.8 in the 2025 version. Range climbs significantly to over 285 miles per charge, a huge step up from the previous 227 miles. Charging is also faster with the new North American Charging Standard port, giving access to Tesla Superchargers and allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in under 35 minutes with up to 150 kilowatts of power.

Design-wise, Subaru cleaned things up a bit. The front end gets a sleeker treatment with new LED headlights, a glowing badge, a new bumper, and wheel options in 20 or 18 inches. The rear now features a bold “Subaru” wordmark instead of the logo, but the signature roof spoiler remains. Some models now come with body-colored fenders, making the car feel less rugged and more urban-friendly.

Inside, the cabin layout improves with a reshaped center console and a massive 14-inch touchscreen that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety gets a boost too, with Subaru EyeSight now standard. That means features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and emergency braking are included.

Subaru will reveal pricing later this year. The 2025 model started at $39,915, so expect something close. With sales already up over 172 percent in early 2025, this new version could take things even higher.
