New XPENG P7 Is Smarter, Faster

The new XPeng P7 has officially arrived, bringing a fresh design, upgraded technology, and performance aimed directly at some of the most competitive electric sedans on the market. Measuring 5017 millimeters in length, 1970 millimeters in width, and 1427 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 3008 millimeters, it is slightly larger in almost every dimension compared to the outgoing model. This added size gives the P7 a more confident stance, as well as increased cabin space.

The exterior adopts XPeng’s new Xmart Face design language, featuring a star-ring through-light strip across the front, paired with vertical lighting elements to form a unique H-shaped signature. The blacked-out A-pillars give the impression of a floating roof, while the aerodynamic X-shaped wheels tie into XPeng’s brand identity. Even the center caps now spell out “XPENG” instead of using the brand logo. The rear end mirrors the front styling with H-shaped taillights and incorporates an active rear spoiler for improved aerodynamics. The full tailgate opens in one piece, while blue intelligent driving indicator lights are integrated into the rear bumper. With a drag coefficient of just 0.201, the P7 is built for efficiency.

Step inside, and you are greeted by what XPeng calls the “Technology Island.” This space blends premium materials with advanced digital interfaces. The 87-inch augmented reality head-up display uses Huawei hardware combined with XPeng’s own software for crisp, immersive visuals. At the center sits a 15.6-inch touchscreen that can move on three axes, making it easier for both driver and passenger to use. The door panels integrate capacitive touchpad controls that can be customized to quickly access features like opening the glove box, turning on reading lights, or adjusting seat heating and ventilation. Future over-the-air updates promise to expand these functions. A three-spoke sports steering wheel, dynamic ambient lighting, and thoughtful ergonomics complete the upscale feel.

Under the skin, the rear-wheel-drive model produces 270 kilowatts, which is equal to 367 horsepower. For those who want more performance, the all-wheel-drive version delivers 437 kilowatts, or 595 horsepower, through its dual-motor setup. Customers can choose between lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium battery packs, with capacities of 74.9 kilowatt-hours and 92.2 kilowatt-hours. Charging is another highlight: the P7 supports 5C supercharging, peaking at 486 kilowatts, allowing a 10-minute charge to add 512 kilometers of range. Charging from 10 percent to 80 percent takes just 11.3 minutes.

Driving range is impressive across the lineup. The standard model achieves 702 kilometers on the CLTC cycle, the long-range version reaches 820 kilometers, and the all-wheel-drive variant delivers 750 kilometers. These figures put it in direct competition with rivals such as the Xiaomi SU7, Tesla Model 3, Zeekr 001, and BYD Han L. Against these competitors, the P7 stands out for its combination of sleek aerodynamics, advanced in-car technology, and ultra-fast charging.

With its balanced blend of style, technology, and performance, the new XPeng P7 is clearly designed to push the boundaries of what a modern electric sedan can offer. It is not just about numbers on a spec sheet—it is about creating a car that feels exciting to drive, smart to live with, and efficient to own. As soon as it hits the market, it will be fascinating to see how it shakes up this increasingly crowded segment.
