New Roewe M7 DMH Review: Big Sedan, Tiny Price, Huge Range
Roewe’s new M7 DMH feels like a statement car. It brings near-executive size, clean lines signed off under Jozef Kabaň, and a price tag that starts at 97,800 yuan and tops out at 114,800 yuan. Pre-sale just opened in China, and the brand is very open about what it wants this sedan to be: long-legged, efficient, and easy to live with. Dimensions come in at 4,940 millimeters long, 1,890 millimeters wide, and 1,510 millimeters tall, with a 2,820 millimeter wheelbase—substantial numbers for the money.
Under the skin is SAIC’s latest DMH hybrid setup: a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine working with a front electric motor and a 19.7 kilowatt hour lithium iron phosphate battery through a dedicated hybrid transmission. Official figures claim a pure electric driving range of 160 kilometers on China’s test cycle and a headline combined driving range of 2,050 kilometers. The engine is rated at 82 kilowatts and 135 newton meters, the motor at 137 kilowatts and 330 newton meters. Roewe quotes 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds, a 185 kilometers per hour top speed, and just 2.91 liters per 100 kilometers on the combined test. For a family sedan priced under 120,000 yuan, that is remarkable.
Inside, it is quiet, airy, and tech-forward. You get a 10.25-inch driver display and a 15.6-inch center screen, both driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 cockpit chip. Voice control is powered by an artificial intelligence assistant based on ByteDance’s Doubao model, and the creature comforts read like a wish list: heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a generously sized trunk listed at 527 liters. Storage is everywhere you look; Roewe highlights more than thirty storage spaces throughout the cabin. Little touches—like the illuminated “ROEWE” script in the grille and multi-spoke wheels wrapped in 225/50 R17 or R18 tires—add a bit of occasion each time you walk up to it.
If you are cross-shopping plug in hybrids for daily commuting and road-trip flexibility, the numbers alone make a strong case. The M7 DMH promises a week of short errands on electricity, and when life calls for a long haul, you have real fuel range to lean on. If that blend of calm, comfort, and cost matters more than lap times, this sedan belongs on your shortlist.
