New Li i8 SUV by Li Auto Shocks China With Wild Speed and Luxury

Li Auto has officially unveiled its first-ever fully electric family SUV, the Li i8, and it is shaping up to be a serious contender in the premium electric vehicle segment. Designed with six seats in a two plus two plus two layout, this SUV blends high-end tech, comfort, and performance in one sleek package.

This is not just a step forward for Li Auto—it is a leap. While the company made its name with extended-range electric vehicles, the Li i8 signals a full commitment to pure battery electric platforms. With dual electric motors putting out a combined 536 horsepower and built on an advanced 800-volt platform, the Li i8 is fast, refined, and future-ready. The front motor delivers 150 kilowatts, while the rear puts out 250 kilowatts for all-wheel drive performance and enhanced stability.

The battery options are just as impressive. Buyers can choose between a 90.1 kilowatt-hour pack with a range of 670 kilometers or a 97.8 kilowatt-hour version rated for 720 kilometers using the CLTC standard. Thanks to its 5C ultra-fast charging support, the Li i8 can gain 500 kilometers of range in only 10 minutes at compatible stations, making it ideal for road trips or long commutes.

Comfort was clearly a top priority. Inside, you will find heated and ventilated massaging captain chairs in the second row with 14-way adjustment, while the console includes a temperature-controlled compartment for drinks or snacks. Technology is everywhere, from the panoramic roof to the 15.7-inch infotainment display and passenger screen, plus a mini screen embedded in the steering wheel.

The Li i8 also introduces Li Auto’s AI assistant powered by MindGPT. Combined with rooftop LiDAR sensors and advanced driver assistance systems, the SUV is built to handle both urban and highway environments with ease. The dual-chamber air suspension offers four ride heights to match varying road conditions and off-road adventures.

When it comes to design, the Li i8 stretches 5,085 millimeters long, 1,960 millimeters wide, and 1,740 millimeters tall, with a 3,050 millimeter wheelbase. It rides on a platform that delivers excellent aerodynamic performance with a drag coefficient of just 0.218, beating some sports cars in efficiency.

Three trims are available: Pro (321,800 Chinese yuan), Max (349,800 yuan), and Ultra (369,800 yuan). That places the starting price around 44,800 United States dollars, making it competitively priced for the amount of luxury and performance packed in.

Li Auto is targeting families who want the flexibility of a multi-purpose vehicle, the performance of a luxury sedan, and the efficiency of a top-tier electric vehicle—all in one. With deliveries starting on August 20, the Li i8 could be the company’s most significant release yet.
