MG IM6 100 Performance Review: 787HP and 17-Minute Charging

The 2026 MG IM6 100 Performance is not your average electric sport utility vehicle. This is where futuristic engineering meets pure performance, and it shows in every detail. From the moment you see its coupe-style silhouette, you know it is meant to stand out. But it is what lies beneath that sleek exterior that really sets it apart.

Powering the IM6 100 Performance is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The front motor delivers about 200 kilowatts while the rear motor packs around 379 kilowatts, combining for a total output of 579 kilowatts, which translates to roughly 787 horsepower. Torque is equally impressive at around 800 Newton-meters. All of this allows the IM6 to sprint from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in just 3.4 seconds. That is not just quick for an electric vehicle—it is genuinely sports car territory.

Its battery is a 100 kilowatt-hour NMC unit, supplied by CATL, running on an 800-volt silicon carbide platform. In terms of charging, it supports up to 396 kilowatts of direct current fast charging, letting you go from ten to eighty percent in less than seventeen minutes under optimal conditions. That means less time waiting and more time driving.

Range is just as impressive. On the WLTP cycle, you can expect up to 505 kilometers, while the NEDC test cycle claims around 634 kilometers. Whether you are commuting or heading out on a road trip, the IM6 100 Performance has the stamina to keep up.

But raw numbers are only part of the story. MG has equipped this vehicle with a four-wheel steering system, which gives it surprising agility for its size. It can navigate tight turns with ease, making city driving far less stressful. You will also find an adaptive air suspension system on board, tuned to automatically adjust damping for comfort or performance when needed.

Step inside, and the cabin instantly communicates that this is a premium experience. The main infotainment interface is a 26.3-inch panoramic display, while a secondary 10.5-inch screen controls climate settings and other functions. The audio system features 20 speakers and immersive sound technology, creating an almost theater-like environment. The cabin lighting, panoramic roof, and ventilated massage seats all contribute to a sense of luxury you usually do not associate with MG.

Technology is at the heart of this model. The iSMART system enables remote access to your vehicle, over-the-air updates, and integrated artificial intelligence assistants. A standout feature is the “Rainy Night Mode,” which boosts visibility using onboard sensors and assists during challenging driving conditions. The IM6 100 Performance also includes IM AD 3.0, MG’s advanced driver assistance suite, with lidar and autonomous parking capability, even without high-definition maps.

In Australia, pricing starts at approximately 80,990 Australian dollars for the Performance trim. That puts it in the same range as the Tesla Model Y Performance, yet the IM6 brings a more premium interior and higher power output. In Thailand, it is positioned as a luxury flagship, with pricing ranging between 1.4 and 1.8 million Thai Baht.

It is clear that MG is no longer content with just being seen as a budget-friendly brand. The IM6 100 Performance is aimed squarely at competitors in the luxury EV space, offering not only speed and tech but also refinement and long-distance usability.
