Meet the Toyota Corolla Cross Nasu Edition: Adventure Looks, Hybrid Power – SEMA

The team at Toyota is stepping out of the city grid and into the mountains with the new 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid Nasu Edition concept, revealed at the 2025 SEMA Show. Drawing inspiration from Japan’s scenic Mount Nasu — a destination famed for hiking trails, hot springs, and rugged outdoor experiences — this version transforms the compact crossover into a lifestyle-ready machine built for adventure.

Designed and built by Toyota’s Service Parts and Accessories Development (SPAD) team — a group focused on enhancing vehicles with functional accessories and stylish upgrades — the Nasu Edition proves they can do more than bolt on a few parts. They collaborated across CAD design, 3D printing, CNC machining and multi-site assembly to produce a unified build that’s as purposeful as it is bold. The SPAD team had to balance this special project alongside hundreds of other accessory development programs, making the result even more impressive.

Under the hood it stays true to the 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid’s efficient powertrain: a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine paired with three electric motors, delivering a combined output of 196 horsepower and featuring all-wheel drive. Yet this concept goes a step further. It rides on custom truck-style Toyota wheels shod in Toyo Open Country all-terrain tyres and sits higher thanks to a custom suspension lift — giving it rugged presence and terrain-ready clearance.

The exterior style lifts the crossover out of its urban cocoon. A one-off body kit with a modified hood scoop gives it aggressive flair. The wrap is done in a striking purple hue — a nod to one meaning of “nasu” in Japanese (“eggplant”) — and the look is completed with rock sliders, a cargo basket, an articulating roof rack and overlanding touches that commit to the outdoor lifestyle. Inside the cargo area you’ll find a custom drawer system and a slide-out refrigerator for extended outings.

Lighting upgrades include exterior lightbars, fog lamps, illuminated door-sills, puddle lights and cargo-sill illumination — adding both style and function. Inside the cabin the SPAD team added meaningful details to match the adventurous persona of the vehicle. And to tie it all into the world of outdoor sport, a custom downhill mountain bike — an homage to world-champion junior rider Asa Vermette — is secured to the roof rack, reinforcing the Nasu Edition’s connection to cycling and exploration.

Toyota’s message is clear: a vehicle doesn’t need to be a full-blown truck or body-on-frame SUV to carry a spirit of adventure. According to Mike Tripp, group vice president of Toyota Marketing, the Nasu Edition “shows how possibility isn’t limited to our trucks and body-on-frame SUVs — it extends across our lineup.” The result is a crossover that empowers customers to do more, explore more and achieve more.

You’ll be able to see the 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid Nasu Edition in person at the 2025 SEMA Show, happening from November 4 to November 7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (Central Hall, Booth 22200). It’s one of more than two dozen Toyota concept builds featured under this year’s “Powered by Possibility” theme — showcasing Toyota’s innovation across gasoline internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery-electric and fuel-cell electric powertrains. Come see how everyday practicality meets bold design and adventurous spirit.
