Inside the Ultimate G-Class Off-Road Adventure – Morocco to the Schöckl
There is no off-road adventure quite like what Mercedes-Benz is offering with its G-Class Experience programs. Whether you are conquering a 35-degree slope, navigating deep mud on one wheel, or climbing the Iron Schöckl with its 100 percent gradient, the thrill is non-stop. Since 2020, enthusiasts have been coming to the G-Class Experience Center in Graz, Austria, to push the iconic vehicle to its limits—and every year, the event sells out. To meet demand, Mercedes-Benz is stepping things up with new locations, elevated experiences, and more exclusive access.
One of the newest additions is the ‘G-Class Expedition Desert Edition,’ which transports a maximum of 20 guests into the rugged and breathtaking terrain of Morocco. Over the course of five unforgettable days, customers experience the full capabilities of the G-Class across the Atlas Mountains and through the majestic dunes of the Merzouga Desert. The journey begins with a five-star dinner and stay in Marrakech before covering 811 kilometers of pure adventure. Drivers tackle elevation changes up to 2,800 meters, water crossings, desert trails, and even pass the crater seen in the James Bond movie “Spectre.” The highlight is a drive across the desert in convoy, showcasing drifts and full off-road capability, followed by an exclusive dinner before flying back to Marrakech. All of this is available for €14,990.
For those who crave intensity on a different level, the ‘Private Coaching’ program in Graz is the most immersive offering yet. With only six guests per session, it combines a day of full G-Class immersion and a behind-the-scenes factory tour with the rare chance to drive on the legendary Schöckl mountain test track. This 5.6-kilometer course includes up to 60 percent gradients, 40 percent inclines, and terrain so harsh it has been used to test every G-Class for more than four decades. Guests stay two nights in Graz with all meals and driving instruction included, priced at €9,950 for two people.
Of course, the original ‘G-Class Experience’ still runs strong from April through November. This one-day event takes place across 100,000 square meters of off-road playground and offers a maximum of 24 participants the chance to handle the G-Class in both off-road and on-road conditions. From deep furrows and steep slopes to fast braking and slalom drills, this program builds skill and confidence. The price starts at €2,490 per person, or €2,990 for two.
In 2023, Mercedes-Benz introduced a very special perk—factory delivery of your brand-new G-Class directly from Graz. This exclusive experience includes an overnight stay, a private instructor, and the vehicle handover inside a glass cube. Prices start at €2,750, or €3,500 depending on the options chosen.
Whether you are into dune driving, alpine climbs, or just want to feel what a G-Class can really do, Mercedes-Benz has created a playground for grown-ups who want more than a brochure. And honestly, who would not want to take on nature with a vehicle made to master it?
