Electric SUV Shocks the World – Polestar 3’s Insane Range!

Electric SUV Shocks the World – Polestar 3’s Insane Range!

Polestar has just set a new benchmark for electric vehicle endurance, and it is turning heads across the automotive world. The Polestar 3, the company’s large premium electric sport utility vehicle, has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled by an electric sport utility vehicle on a single charge. The recently launched Long Range Single Motor variant covered an astonishing 935.44 kilometers, which is 581.3 miles, in a single run.

The record attempt took 22 hours and 57 minutes to complete, facing a mix of weather conditions including rain. Throughout the challenge, the Polestar 3 maintained an exceptional efficiency rate of 12.1 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers, which translates to 19.5 kilowatt-hours per 100 miles. Behind the wheel were professional efficiency drivers Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker, who rotated every 3 hours to ensure maximum alertness. Remarkably, the Polestar 3 matched its official WLTP range of 706 kilometers, or 438 miles, with 20 percent battery still remaining, and even managed an extra 12.8 kilometers, or 8 miles, after showing zero percent battery before reaching a charging station.

Polestar Chief Executive Officer Michael Lohscheller expressed his pride, stating that having a world record holder in the Polestar lineup reinforces the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and electric performance. Matt Galvin, Polestar United Kingdom Managing Director, highlighted that the achievement demonstrates how far electric vehicle range has advanced in recent years, noting that a large sport utility vehicle traveling beyond the distance from London to Edinburgh on one charge proves outdated range concerns wrong.

The attempt was officially overseen by Guinness World Records judge Paulina Sapinska, with data verification handled by Webfleet using video evidence, odometer readings, GPS tracking, and battery level records. The Polestar 3 used in the challenge was a completely standard production model with no modifications, running on standard 20-inch wheels fitted with Michelin Sport 4 EV tires. The effort also had the support of the AA.
