All-New BMW X7 2028: What They Are Not Telling You About the Next Gen SUV
BMW may have arrived fashionably late to the large luxury SUV scene with the X7 debuting in 2018, but it quickly carved out its place. Now, after 7 successful years, BMW is already deep into developing its next-generation flagship SUV.
Recent spy shots have given us a pretty solid look at what is coming, and here is the surprise: it does not follow the Neue Klasse design language like some expected. That will be a relief for many fans who prefer BMW’s traditional styling. The new model looks more like a thoughtful evolution than a radical reinvention.
At the front, the SUV sports tall kidney grilles, flanked by split lighting elements – daytime running lights separate from the main headlamps. The back reveals new taillight graphics and a familiar split-opening tailgate. The quad exhaust tips strongly suggest this is still a gasoline-powered vehicle, likely with a V8 engine, though partial electrification is very likely to reduce emissions and boost performance.
Underpinning this new X7 will be an updated CLAR-WE platform, allowing for multiple powertrain configurations including gasoline, diesel (in some markets), and potentially a fully electric version rumored to be named the iX7.
If rumors are accurate, the global premiere could happen by 2027, with the model arriving in the United States as a 2028 model year vehicle.
