BMW’s 50th Anniversary 3 Series – The M340i Jahre Edition Explained
BMW is celebrating five decades of the 3 Series with a special edition that honors every generation of its iconic sport sedan. The 2026 BMW M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition is more than just a commemorative badge—it is a tribute to 50 years of performance, precision, and passion that helped shape BMW’s identity around the world.
This exclusive model brings back classic color options from the past, featuring five exterior paints inspired by earlier 3 Series generations—from the first E21 to the beloved E90. Each shade gives a nod to BMW’s heritage while looking perfectly at home on a modern chassis. The interior continues this nostalgic tone with three leather choices: Black, Ivory, or Tartufo. Extended Merino Leather makes its first-ever appearance in a 3 Series, paired with carbon fiber trim and “3 Series 50 Jahre Edition” badging across the cabin.
BMW even matched brake calipers to each exterior color, available in either red or blue. The Shadowline Package comes standard, adding adaptive LED headlights and darkened accents around the grille and lower air intakes. Completing the look are M Performance carbon-fiber details, a trunk-lid spoiler, 19-inch dual-spoke wheels, and polished exhaust tips—all topped with special 50 Jahre emblems.
Under the hood, nothing changes—and that is a good thing. The M340i continues to deliver incredible power from its 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six mild-hybrid engine, producing 386 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. That means it sprints from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds, with an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels.
Pricing starts at $76,375 including destination fees, though BMW has not disclosed production numbers. What we do know is that this limited-run model will be highly sought after when it reaches the streets early next year.
