New Cayenne EV: 400 kW Fast Charging Meets Cable-Free Home Charging

At Munich’s auto show, Porsche previewed the next Cayenne electric vehicle with a party trick: wireless charging. The system pairs a floor plate and a receiver coil in the sport utility vehicle, guiding you into place on the front view display. Park correctly and the Cayenne drops to sit about 4 to 6 inches above the pad, then charges at up to 11 kW—no cable wrestling on rainy nights.

Porsche says the option will cost €2,000 for the vehicle hardware and €5,000 for the cooled charging pad that weighs 50 kg and measures 1.17 m (46 inches) long. Efficiency is quoted up to 90%, and safety gets attention: a motion sensor pauses charging if pets, people, or stray metal are detected.

There is speed too. The Cayenne is slated to accept direct current fast charging at up to 400 kW, putting it among the quickest-charging electric vehicles. On home power at 240 V, an 11 kW session draws 46 A—or about 12.2 kW from the wall at 48 A. Do not forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell.
