First-Ever Nissan X-Trail NISMO – Performance Meets Everyday Driving

Nissan has revealed the very first X-Trail NISMO in Japan, bringing motorsport-inspired engineering to a popular family SUV. The company designed this special model under the idea of creating a “Grand Touring SUV that delivers a passionate experience,” which means it offers both excitement and everyday usability.

The X-Trail NISMO has been carefully tuned for sharp cornering, quick acceleration, and smooth comfort. It is the first Nissan to feature Kayaba Swing Valve shock absorbers, a technology that reduces body movement in taller vehicles while maintaining a refined ride. Paired with the advanced e-4ORCE electric all-wheel-drive system, the SUV delivers improved cornering by adjusting power between the front and rear wheels depending on driving mode and road conditions.

Nissan has equipped the X-Trail NISMO with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires mounted on exclusive 20-inch wheels that use wider rims for quicker steering response. Power steering has also been adjusted to match the suspension setup, giving drivers more confidence on winding roads. A specially tuned vehicle control module provides a SPORT mode for sharp responsiveness and an AUTO mode that smooths out acceleration for daily driving.

Design plays a major role in this model. The exterior has aerodynamic enhancements such as a front under spoiler with a bold NISMO logo, red-accented side skirts, a diffuser-inspired rear section, and motorsport-style rear fog lamps. The wheels, made with Enkei’s MAT process, are both lightweight and rigid. Together, these elements reduce lift by 29% compared to the standard X-Trail, creating more stability without adding drag.

Inside, Nissan has kept the comfort and practicality of the X-Trail but added NISMO flair with a black-and-red color scheme. Buyers can also opt for NISMO-tuned Recaro sports seats that provide excellent support in corners, while still offering electric reclining and heating for comfort.

Sales of the Nissan X-Trail NISMO are set to begin in Japan on September 24.
