2027 Acura RSX EV will be Revealed SOON!
The Acura RSX name is making a comeback, but this time it is attached to something entirely new. While the old two-door RSX hatchback was a sporty compact beloved by enthusiasts, the upcoming Acura RSX will be an all-electric SUV. Aside from sharing the same badge, the two models are worlds apart — and that is perfectly fine. Acura has already proven it can successfully revive a nameplate with the Integra, even delivering a true Type S version. Now, the RSX will step in as the brand’s second electric model, following the ZDX mid-size crossover.
Acura has given us a first look at the RSX prototype ahead of its official reveal at Monterey Car Week. Unlike the ZDX, which was co-developed with General Motors and shares its bones with the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq, the RSX will ride on Acura’s first dedicated electric platform. This is a big deal for the brand, marking a shift toward fully in-house engineering.
The RSX will also debut Acura’s ASIMO OS operating system. First introduced at CES earlier this year alongside Honda’s 0-series prototypes, ASIMO OS integrates advanced driver-assistance systems with the infotainment setup. It supports over-the-air updates, meaning the SUV can gain new features and improvements without a trip to the dealership.
From the teaser image, we can see the RSX’s sharp, angular front end, complete with slim daytime running lights and an illuminated Acura logo. Previous images of the camouflaged prototype also revealed a coupe-like silhouette, a steeply raked rear roofline, a full-width taillight, and a subtle ducktail spoiler.
While it will not be as radical-looking as the Performance EV Concept that inspired it, the RSX appears to strike a balance between bold styling and production-ready practicality. The official debut of the prototype will happen next week, but the production version will not start rolling out until the second half of next year. Production will take place at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, alongside the four-door Integra.
