New 2026 Nissan Micra: EV Hatchback With Style, Space, and Range!
Nissan is making a bold move with the return of the Micra, now fully electric and ready to stand alongside the brand’s all-new Leaf compact crossover. The 2026 Nissan Micra is no longer the tiny, quirky hatchback you might remember—it is now a sleek, all-electric subcompact that leans heavily on the Renault 5 E-Tech platform. But do not worry, it is not just a rebadged twin. Nissan has done enough to give the Micra a unique personality.
While it may share its foundation with the Renault 5, the Micra gets its own look. The circular LED lights on both ends give it a cheerful, upbeat face, and the bold side profile adds some rugged flavor thanks to extra body cladding and a slightly raised stance. Even the rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillars, giving the hatchback a modern, almost coupe-like silhouette.
Nissan’s European design team in London was behind the visual direction, but the cabin is clearly borrowed from its Renault sibling. Still, it is not a bad thing—drivers get two 10.1-inch screens on an angled dash, physical climate controls for easy operation, and a standout feature for this class: ambient lighting with 48 color options.
Available toward the end of 2025, the sixth-generation Micra will be offered in 14 exterior color combinations and three unique interior styles called Modern, Audacious, and Chill. The rear seats fold in a 40/60 split, expanding cargo space from 326 liters to 1106 liters, which makes it very usable for daily errands or weekend trips.
Two powertrain options are available. The base model features a 40 kilowatt-hour battery pack and produces 121 horsepower along with 166 pound-feet of torque. The upgraded version comes with a larger 52 kilowatt-hour battery and delivers 148 horsepower with 181 pound-feet of torque. That extra juice gives the top model a driving range of up to 254 miles, while the standard version offers 193 miles per charge.
Charging is quick and convenient thanks to DC fast charging support at either 80 kilowatts or 100 kilowatts, allowing a 15 to 80 percent top-up in around 30 minutes. Weights range from 3,086 pounds for the base version to 3,360 pounds for the long-range model, so handling should still feel light and nimble.
This Micra is all about a new beginning for Nissan, with fresh leadership, an EV-focused lineup, and a real attempt at relevance in a changing auto landscape. If it proves popular in Europe, expect Nissan to consider more global markets in the future.
