Nissan starts the production of the 2016 Nissan Altima

The 2016 Nissan Altima has gone into production at the company’s plant in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Set to arrive at U.S. dealerships in November, the facelifted model has a new front fascia with a V-Motion grille that is flanked by boomerang-shaped headlights. The model also features new front fenders, a revised hood and optional LED daytime running lights. Rounding out the styling changes are a new rear bumper, a revised trunk and restyled taillights.

Interior changes are relatively limited but include reshaped Zero Gravity front seats, a revised steering wheel and a new center stack. There’s also updated upholstery and a new center console with cup holders.

Under the hood, two engines will be available. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder produces up to 182 bhp (135 kW) and 180 lb-ft (243 Nm) of torque, while the 3.5-liter V6 develops 270 bhp (201 kW) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque. Both are connected to an Xtronic continuously variable transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
