ZR1 and ZR1X Might Beat the Mustang GTD’s Nürburgring Record!
There is something brewing at the Nürburgring, and it sounds like a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. A new teaser from Chevrolet has sparked excitement across the performance car world, showing what looks like a ZR1 equipped with the optional ZTK performance package flying down the legendary 12.9-mile Nordschleife circuit. That aggressive rear wing? Impossible to miss.
The short clip captures the yellow Corvette thundering through the straight before braking into a sharp left-hander. But the real buzz comes from the caption—“Fast as green hell.” That alone is enough to get gearheads wondering if Chevrolet is aiming for something more than just bragging rights.
The biggest mystery is which model we are seeing. Is it the rumored 1,064-horsepower rear-wheel-drive ZR1? Or could it be the 1,250-horsepower hybrid all-wheel-drive ZR1X? Some believe Chevrolet might have tested both, along with the Z06, all at the same time. Earlier this month, reports emerged of multiple Corvette variants lapping the Nürburgring.
Chevrolet has not released official lap times for any Corvette from the C7 or C8 generation, but now might be the time to change that. The current American production car Nürburgring record belongs to the Ford Mustang GTD, with a blazing time of 6 minutes and 52.072 seconds. For Chevrolet to break that, the ZR1 or ZR1X will have to pull off something truly spectacular.
And for those who love hidden messages—Chevrolet dropped the teaser on June 28. That is 6/28. Could be nothing. Or it could mean everything.
