Why the Lancia Ypsilon Rally4 HF Is Already Breaking Records

Lancia made a powerful comeback to rally racing during the recent Rally Regione Piemonte, where the spotlight was firmly on its new generation of performance and heritage. The heart of the celebration was the Lancia Corse HF Village, right in the center of Alba, attracting thousands of motorsport fans. From test drives of the New Ypsilon to exclusive displays of historic rally icons, the brand’s presence was impossible to miss.

Guests got a hands-on look at the hybrid and electric Ypsilon variants, alongside the aggressive 280-horsepower Ypsilon HF. Rally fans and collectors also marveled at a lineup of 25 classic Lancia rally cars, thanks to the Cinzano Rally Team. Social media lit up as Lancia Corse HF streamed every highlight across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, making sure fans around the world felt part of the action.

The press conference within the village drew a huge crowd. Lancia Chief Executive Officer Luca Napolitano, Lancia Corse HF Director Eugenio Franzetti, and rally legend Miki Biasion shared the excitement of the brand’s official return to the sport. Biasion, a two-time world rally champion, also completed a lap of honor, electrifying the crowd and adding emotional weight to the brand’s re-entry into competitive racing.

The breakout star was the Ypsilon Rally4 HF. Developed under the guidance of Biasion, it has already sold more than 90 units in just 4 months. Its first competitive outing was a showstopper, with Finnish driver Kauppinen winning the opening trial, while Italian drivers Gianandrea Pisani and Nicola Biagi took a podium finish in the Sparco Two-Wheel Drive Italian Championship.

At the finish line in Piazza San Paolo, other standout teams such as Vigliaturo-Corradini, Fiore-Casalini, and Kauppinen-Karttunen were celebrated by Lancia with a special commemorative plaque. These early adopters now have their names etched into the comeback story of Lancia in motorsport.

Built with a 212-horsepower turbocharged engine, SADEV 5-speed gearbox, and adjustable Ohlin suspension, the Ypsilon Rally4 HF is built to help young talents make their mark. The Trofeo Lancia, a one-make cup launching on May 8 at the Rally Targa Florio, is already fully booked with 40 teams. These include 25 drivers under 35, 7 international entrants, and 2 all-female teams. With a €360,000 prize pool and a potential seat on the Lancia Corse HF team for the FIA European Rally Championship in 2026, the stakes could not be higher.

Miki Biasion summed it up perfectly, saying that Lancia’s return feels like coming home. The aim is not just to win—it is to give young drivers a platform, bring Italian rallying back to life, and inspire the next generation. He added, “We are starting small, but with big heart. The world is watching.”
