Volkswagen ID ERA 9X vs UNYX 08 Interior and Exterior Breakdown

Volkswagen ID ERA 9X vs UNYX 08 Interior and Exterior Breakdown

The design direction from Volkswagen is clearly shifting, and the ID. ERA 9X and ID. UNYX 08 show two very different visions of what the future electric sport utility vehicle could look like. At first glance, both models feel modern, but when you spend a little time with them, the philosophy behind each one becomes obvious.

The ID. ERA 9X leans heavily into presence. It is large, confident, and designed to feel premium from every angle. The front end is clean with no traditional grille, replaced by a smooth surface and a full width light signature that immediately catches your attention. The lighting flows seamlessly into the body, giving it a polished and almost concept car look. From the side, the proportions are long and slightly coupe inspired, but still upright enough to keep that sport utility vehicle identity. Small details like flush door handles and a roof mounted sensor hint at advanced technology without overwhelming the design.

Inside, the ERA 9X feels more like a lounge than a traditional cabin. The focus is on comfort and space, especially with its 6 seat layout. Large digital displays dominate the dashboard, and rear passengers are treated to a massive overhead screen that turns the second row into a true entertainment space. The materials and layout are minimal, but not cold. It feels intentional, like everything was designed to reduce clutter and let the technology take center stage.

The ID. UNYX 08 takes a different path. It is still modern, but it feels more agile and youthful. The front end is sharper, with slim headlights and a more sculpted shape. The floating roof design and clean side surfaces give it a lighter appearance compared to the ERA 9X. Around the back, the full width light bar adds a strong visual identity, especially with the illuminated badge.

Step inside the UNYX 08 and you immediately notice a more driver focused approach. The screens are still large, but they are integrated in a way that feels more practical. There is a clear balance between digital controls and physical buttons, which makes it easier to use while driving. Features like a panoramic roof, high quality sound system, and thoughtful rear seating touches make it feel modern without going overboard.

What makes this comparison interesting is how clearly these two vehicles define their roles. The ERA 9X is about comfort, space, and creating a premium experience for everyone inside. The UNYX 08 is about usability, style, and giving the driver a more connected feel to the vehicle. Both are strong in their own way, but they target very different buyers.

If this is the direction Volkswagen is heading, it is clear they are not just building electric vehicles, they are experimenting with how people will experience cars in the future.
