This SUV Crushes the Competition: Geely Galaxy M9 Walkaround

Geely’s new Galaxy M9 is not just another large hybrid SUV—it is a bold statement in design, comfort, and cutting-edge technology. Officially revealed during a sleek event in Milan, the Galaxy M9 showcases the brand’s vision for premium family mobility. It rides on the GEA Evo platform and stands out with its imposing 5,205-millimeter length and a massive 3,030-millimeter wheelbase, offering the kind of road presence typically reserved for high-end German rivals.

Stepping outside, the exterior feels futuristic yet balanced. The full-width “Galaxy Ripple” LED light bars give it an unmistakable face, while matrix LED headlights and sculpted chrome details further elevate its look. It is not just about being bold—it is about being refined.

Open the doors and you are greeted by a lounge-like cabin designed for long-distance comfort. The M9 features a true 2+2+2 seating layout with captain chairs in the first and second rows. Even the third row is fully motorized, offering reclining and heating functions. Above you, the glass roof opens up to a spacious interior with 1,300 millimeters of headroom. The highlight? A 30-inch panoramic screen that stretches across the dashboard, supported by a head-up display and a secondary screen for the passenger.

Whether you are a driver or a passenger, the tech inside does not hold back. The infotainment system is packed with smart AI-powered features, a voice assistant, wireless phone charging, and even a built-in refrigerator. And for entertainment on the go, the rear passengers get their own fold-down screen, ambient lighting, and premium audio.

Under the hood, the Galaxy M9 comes equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid engine. It pairs with multiple electric motors and Geely’s advanced three-speed DHT transmission. Two battery options are available: an 18.4 kilowatt-hour pack for around 85 kilometers of electric-only driving or a larger 41.5 kilowatt-hour pack offering up to 185 kilometers. Combined, you get an astonishing range of approximately 1,500 kilometers with a fuel economy rating of 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers. That means fewer stops at the pump and more time enjoying the road.

Performance does not fall behind either. With the top-tier hybrid setup, the Galaxy M9 can hit 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.5 seconds. That is quicker than most people expect from a family SUV.

The ride comfort is enhanced by an AI-driven air suspension system with Lotus-tuned dynamics. And when it comes to safety and automation, Geely includes the G-Pilot H5 driver assistance suite, which uses roof-mounted LiDAR, 11 cameras, and radar systems to offer Level 3 semi-autonomous driving. From highway cruise to door-to-door piloting, the M9 makes it all effortless.

The Galaxy M9 blends practicality, performance, and luxury in a way few plug-in hybrid SUVs do at this price point. With an expected price range between 200,000 and 300,000 RMB, it seriously undercuts premium rivals while offering many of the same flagship features.
